Alumni Stories: Nick Lawson
We each have different skills, interests and ideas. Applied passionately and with precision, amazing things can happen. Our world is an infinitely complex place with a myriad of challenges that no one solution can solve. We can all play a part. Here is one story from Humanitarian Institute Alum Nick Lawson.
My name is Nick Lawson and on Valentine's Day 2018 I begin running barefoot from the South to the North of Africa.
I'm doing it for love.
To spread a message of love and global unity in an attempt to show the world that we are all one and that the hate and fear we constantly see in the media is there to divide us and make us fear each other.
I will run a marathon a day for a year and will be visiting 25 countries in Eastern Africa. The current state of the world and its many humans is at a very critical point. Never before has there been so many refugees, child slaves, suicide, and the list goes on. We all have to take a part in creating a better future for the generations to come and that part starts with you and within you.
I am attempting to be joined by at least one person from every country in the world, and each person can run, walk or cycle as much as they are capable of each day. Each individual will fundraise for a different charity so we can try and help as many people as possible and get the message and importance of love to the whole world.
Be the change my friends. Much love to you all.
Nick Lawson
