Job Notice: Media and Organisational Strengthening Mentor, Solomon Islands
AVI opportunity based in Honiara for 12 months.
This assignment supports the Australian Government’s Solomon Island Aid Invest Plan objective of Enhancing Human Development.
This role builds on the organisational strengthening work of past AVI Volunteers placements. VBMS has identified the need for a Media and Organisational Strengthening Officer to continue in assisting with sustainability in operations and provide specific media project support.
This assignment would continue to assist VBMS to:
Increase programme staff capacity to continue to implement a Digital Storytelling Project for survivors of domestic violenceFocus on supporting the organisational monitoring, evaluation and strengthening activities.
This role will be suitable for person who is flexible and willing to work in a small women’s NGO which also has limited resources to run its programs.
Qualifications, Essential Skills & Experience
Bachelor in Communications or Community Development or equivalent work experienceExperience producing digital media using video and audio equipment and utilising interviewing skillsExperience in identifying diverse funding sources, writing grant proposals and securing funding for organisations.Demonstrated experience in developing social media strategiesExperience in relationship management with donors/funding bodies in either Community or International Development
Desirable Skills & Experience
A preparedness to work with limited resources within a challenging environmentDemonstrated success in building the skills of others through formal and/or informal training and mentoring
